But where to begin? The world is vast. And every country’s tourism board will tell you that their country is the one to go to.

To make it easier for adventurists, we've narrowed down the list to just a few of the world’s top spots. Every person is different, of course, but we are confident that these adventure hubs are certainly among the best.

1. Patagonia

For adventures of all sorts wrapped into a single region, you can't hold wrong with Patagonia. The region straddles Argentina and Chile, and it contains an entire world worth of diverse adventures inside it.

In Patagonia, you can:

  • find yourself kayaking one day (you can even bring folding kayaks and skip the rental fee!),
  • climbing rugged peaks the next, and
  • gliding through glaciers the day after that.

Depending on where you choose to start your adventure, you can visit the Torres del Paine National Park in Chile, where you can wind through granite cliffs, lakes, and incredible otherworldly glaciers. If you're really serious about mountain climbing, you can brave the summit of Mount Fitz Roy in Los Glaciers National Park in Argentina, instead. There is an infinite variety of options in this vast territory.

2. Roatan

If you have a love for diving, hiking, and other natural wonders, you can find them all in one place on the Honduran island of Roatan.

You will never suffer from lack of activity on this wondrous tropical island. Roatan is part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, which is the second largest reef in the world. It is probably best known for its amazing diving and snorkeling - even the most seasoned divers consider it a mainstay of the diving world - but this is far from all that the island has to offer.

Central America is replete with diverse topography. As soon as you return from the water, you can go right into the jungle, experience the wonders of the wild, and even take a zipline through the trees. If you love wildlife, you will experience the best of what both land and water have to offer in this tiny yet densely-packed haven of nature.

3. Antarctica

Antarctica is a bucket list destination for many avid travelers, and for good reason. It is arguably one of the most unique and endlessly photography blend places on the planet. If you can check this one off your list, you will surely be the envy of many.

Although the price tag isn't low - many people manage to make it to the seventh continent only in their retirement - the trip is well worth the cost in the opinions of most who make it there.

Imagine this:

  • Sailing through the most incredible glaciers you will ever see,
  • Experiencing the seclusion of being completely removed from populated land (except for the penguins!), and
  • Having the opportunity to get off the boat and see things up close is truly a surreal experience.

For the absolute bravest of adventurers, you will become a social media sensation if you dare to dive in the waters yourself. Just make sure you can get back into a hot shower afterwards!

4. Tanzania

If you've ever dreamed of going on an African safari, look no further than Tanzania. Home to the Great Migration, you will see wildlife in its natural habitat like nowhere else. And the Tanzanians know this. The country has been sniffing up its travel industries for years now, and it is well-equipped to host tourists of all socioeconomic stripes.

Beyond the wildlife, Tanzania presents one of the great mountain challenges in the world, with Kilimanjaro towering at almost 20,000 feet. Only the most experienced climbers can make it to Kilimanjaro's peak, but those who do consider it an incredible feat. And let's not forget natural wonders of the opposite sort! The Ngorongoro Crater is also a sight to behold. The crater is a favorite destination for wildlife drive-throughs among enthusiasts.

And of course there is Zanzibar. For those seeking an African marine adventure, Zanzibar offers great possibilities for snorkeling and diving. And there are accommodation options in Zanzibar to suit all tastes and budgets.

Find Your Adventure

This is a short list, of course. And the places mentioned here are certainly among the most spectacular in the world. But each person’s tastes are different. Get online and do a search for the kind of activity that most interests you.

You will certainly find a wealth of information, as well as possibilities for tours, interest groups, and other useful tips. The important thing is to get out and experience The Great Outdoors while you can. It will definitely be worth your while.
