Popular Things to Do
Here is a run down of things you might want to do after camp...
Travel
You could travel a legendary road like Route 66', go in search of adventure by seeing the Rockies in Canada, explore cities, join a small group adventure tour or search out history South of the border in Mexico. There are so many options available depending on what you are keen to to!
Volunteer or Intern
This might not have crossed your mind but have you thought about doing something rewarding? There is the opportunity to volunteer in the USA and there are lots of projects where you can help animals, communities or the environment. You could also head further south and search volunteer programs in Mexico where there are so many rewarding initiatives including helping sea turtles.
Work & Travel
Not just looking for a summer job? Some companies offer the chance to work in Canada after camp USA, you can go from a hot summer to a winter ski job! This is a great way to extend your time overseas, make money and experience living in another different country.
Round the World Trip
If you are keen to not go home and have no fixed job or studies to go back to why not instead of booking your flight to Europe, head West and take a gap year or round the world adventure! You could apply to work in Australia, travel in New Zealand, or book a tour of Asia - just to name a few options.
Best Places to Go
Where you go after camp really depends on your personal preference. Here are some of our top recommendations:
- West Coast: California, San Francisco, LA, San Diego, Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon
- East Coast: NYC, Boston, Philadelphia, Florida
- Central: Chicago, Route 66', Colorado
- South: New Orleans
- Canada: Niagara Falls, Toronto, Vancouver
- Mexico: Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Mexico City
Post Camp Tours
If you are looking to experience more of the USA and you would like to get some structured plans in place now then consider joining an organised small group tour.
These are a lot of fun where you will meet and travel in a group of around 8 - 16 people with 2 trip leaders who will take you to new locations and show you the time of your life.

Other Ways to Get Around
Hitchhiking is not recommended so the cheapest way to get around the US after working at camp is the Megabus or Greyhound bus service which connects the whole country - if you are looking to explore on a budget this is the option for you.
General prices for example New York to Niagara Falls (approx $75) and San Francisco to Los Angeles ($45). Both Megabus and Greyhound are both very reliable but due to the size of the USA journeys can be long, really long. You can spend a day on a bus just travelling through one state - the USA is that big!
Sometimes booking USA tours can actually work out cheaper and more effective as you will get to see more places and get accommodation and meals included in the prices. You can also book cheap flights with airlines like Spirit Airways.
