Whether you give your time to assist our fundraising department in processing payments, get stuck into our laundry or help out in our kennels, you will be playing a vital role in helping us to care for 9,000 animals every year.

All volunteer positions are advertised here on our website along with details of the application process to follow. All successful applicants will be asked to attend an assessment session and induction for the role they take on.

What our volunteers mean to us

We strive to ensure our volunteers are involved in all areas of the work of the Home, are valued for their commitment and recognised for the extraordinary things they do for us. We simply couldn't do the work we do without them.

Recognising our volunteers

All volunteers are able to reclaim their travel expenses up to £10 per day. We ensure there are lots of chances for you to develop your skills and experience and learn about animals in a rescue environment. We have regular get-togethers at each of our centres and all volunteers have a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator.

Applying for volunteer roles

You are only able to apply for volunteer roles when they are advertised on our website – we are unable to accept speculative CVs or application forms.

The recruitment process to become a volunteer at Battersea is competitive so we ask that you think extremely carefully about being able to commit the required time before applying. We ask for a minimum commitment of three to six months, but we'd love for volunteers to stay with us for a lot longer - and many do.

All volunteers must be aged 18 years of age and over.
