  • Recording data and measurement
  • Installing protective nest grids
  • Nest relocation (if required)
  • Conducting night surveys (late June-end of July) on which staff will tag nesting females to collect data on nesting behaviour
  • Record hatchling tracks (End August-End September)

  • Manning beach kiosk to raise public awareness for loggerhead sea turtle conservation
  • Weekly beach cleans
  • Maintenance of resources used in the field

All of our projects have short, mid & long-term objectives which are directly linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development goals (UN SDGs). This enables us to report on our collaboratve impact across the world as well as help out local communities and partners measure and visualise their contributions to the UN SGDs.

Project Highlights:

  • Gain real hands-on experience on Sea turtle conservation in one of the most important nesting areas for loggerhead turtles in the Mediterranean region
  • Learn about the threats to sea turtle conservation both locally and globally and how our work combats these threats
  • Be part of a passionate team and make the difference by going out every day (night and day) performing different conservation activities on the beautiful Greek beaches
  • Educate tourists and local residents on sea turtle protection, it's importance and what they can do to help

Costs / Benefits

Since we opened our doors in 1998, we have spent over 65% of all funds directly on our projects. It is our mission to support field operations in the long term. Rather than abandon programs that recruit fewer volunteers we strategically invest from our fully staffed sites to help maintain our presence across the globe. The remaining 35% that is not directly invested in our programs covers the cost of volunteer recruitment, the operations of our head office.

Cost for the program by duration:
2 weeks £1,295
4 weeks £1,795
6 weeks £2,295
8 weeks £2,795
10 weeks £3,345
12 weeks £3,845
