Itinerary

DAY 1: EDINBURGH TO INVERNESS
We leave Scotland's capital at 8.45am and head past Stirling, famous for the stories of Scottish legends like William Wallace and Robert the Bruce and many bloody battles. Our route north takes us through the dramatic Glencoe, the scene of the 1692 massacre of the MacDonald Clan, as your Guide will tell you. This iconic scenery has also featured in Harry Potter and Skyfall movies and you’ll understand why when you see it. It truly is magnificent. Our journey takes us to the shores of Loch Ness where we try to spot the elusive monster. We continue further north to our magnificent accommodation at the Royal Highland Hotel in Inverness. Once frequented by Royalty, the hotel boasts Queen Victoria as a past guest and you will be given a real Highland welcome as you enjoy a glass of mulled wine by the staircase that was used as inspiration in the Titanic. After dinner, we head into town for a great night in the capital of the Highlands!

DAY 2: CHRISTMAS IN THE HIGHLANDS
Christmas Day will never be the same again. We'll make the most of whatever the unpredictable Highland winter weather throws at us! We'll take in the fresh sea air to fight off any remaining hangovers on the white sandy beaches of the coast or head inland in search of a site for a clan battle of our very own…. with snowballs! A few snow-angel and snowman building attempts (weather permitting!) will set us up for the slap-up Christmas feast awaiting us on our return to the hotel. After loads of grub and wine, you can grab a partner and work off some of your Christmas indulgences with traditional Scottish Ceilidh dancing in ‘The Wallace Ballroom’. The Hotel’s classic furnishings, antique portraits, fine works of art and glorious crystal chandeliers set the scene for a party-night HAGGiS-style and one to make Christmas away from home something really special!

DAY 3: INVERNESS TO EDINBURGH
We leave Inverness and head to eerie Culloden Battlefield where the 1746 Jacobite Rising came to a brutal end and changed world history. More recently it has been thrust into the limelight as the inspiration for the hit series Outlander. Heading south, we make our way through the mountains of the Cairngorms National Park to Dunkeld with its Gothic Cathedral in Macbeth country before crossing the Forth Road Bridge, on our return to Edinburgh arriving at approximately 5pm. Say farewell to your new-found friends after an epic Christmas and make sure to enjoy the capital's holiday festivities before you leave Scotland. We are sure you will leave our country loving it as much as we do!
