Together these schools cater for more than 200 children in the Nursery School and over 460 in the Primary School, most of whom come from poorer families who would otherwise struggle to educate all of their children.

The aim for these schools is to provide a holistic approach to education so that children are also learning life skills along with academics. All lessons are taught in English and volunteers are invaluable in working with these children. Through a solid education this program aims to support these children and help them to create a better life and to break the poverty cycle.

Extra teaching support is vital in classrooms with very large rolls, and which lack even basic supplies. Any teaching support given by volunteers in the schools is gratefully accepted and appreciated by teachers and students alike.

Goals of this Project:

  • Provide essential teaching to under-resourced schools in Bamenda
  • Provide an educational foundation for vulnerable children to build on and break the poverty cycle
  • Improve the future prospects of the children in Bamenda
  • Enable inter-cultural exchange which benefits both locals and international volunteers alike.
