Live in the Namibian desert, helping to protect wild elephants and enable humans to live alongside them as they both compete for water. Camp out under the stars and live a nomadic lifestyle, which is all but forgotten in the western world.
This project has two important elements:
For one week of the project you will be doing some building. This involves building a wall around a water pump to protect the pump from thirsty elephants. The elephants are provided with a trough of water so that they can drink at the pump without damaging it - these pumps are the lifeline for humans living in this arid environment.
For the second week of the project, you will be travelling around the desert, tracking the elephants on their natural migrations. You will learn how to track and spot elephants, and will collect data on the herd.
Throughout the project, you will be camping in the desert, cooking over a log fire and really taking life back to basics. This is a once in a lifetime experience, and one that will make memories for life.
