Here at V2 we strongly believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life, and that a good education is the key to success.  Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons, many children in the Caribbean are not getting the good quality education they deserve.  Though dedicated teachers try their best, sometimes the resources they need just aren't there.

This is where you come in: use your experience and skills to support primary schools in Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago.  Qualified teachers, those in training or anyone who is passionate about education will find teaching in the Caribbean a rewarding experience and a career enhancing opportunity. Plan your lessons and share your teaching methods and skills with other local teachers. Teach the children about your specialised subject area and share your enthusiasm with them.

Why volunteer as a teacher:

  • Project/subject based work – we match you to your preferred subject areas with the school’s needs. You'll then teach or assist classes in or related to that theme, potentially delivering a small project to fit your time volunteering.
  • Small sizes – education centres and class sizes are small. You will become familiar with names and faces quickly, and the kids will certainly know yours!  You will provie one-on-one support to students who may be struggling with their studies.
  • Harness the power of 'something new' – you will attract the interest and curiosity of school kids and can steer that towards learning. They will enjoy hearing the foreign accents, be curious about where you are from and what it is like in your country.  Be a superstar for a fortnight!
  • Play – you will learn popular Caribbean school games and show the children some of your own. Creative play is a great tool for sharing, encouraging communication and creating memorable experiences.

Your role and activities will depend on your level experience and skills, so drop us an email and we'll find the perfect placement for you!
