Volunteers on this programme will work alongside the existing orphanage staff to care for the children. This includes feeding, dressing, teaching and playing with the children, as well as cleaning, and preparing meals. If you choose to volunteer in an orphanage, you need to be adaptable, flexible and prepared to hear upsetting and often heartbreaking stories of the orphaned children's backgrounds.
Volunteers will also assist staff in the daily running as well as attending meetings on behalf of the orphanage. Assisting in the office of the orphanage is also an option if you think you can help make the centre run more smoothly.
Program Information / Program Requirements
Volunteers must be 17 years or older at the beginning of the program. Volunteers need to have an open mind as well as a flexible, 'can do' attitude for working in new and different environments. You must bring bags of energy and enthusiasm, and be prepared to make a difference.
Project Location
The volunteer projects are located in Nairobi, and its suburbs of Kibera, Kawangware ,Riruta & Kikuyu, and NGong and Mombasa. Please note that the placements in orphanage program are limited and we suggest volunteers to book in advance to secure a place.
