Gilligan’s is one of the most well known places to stay in Cairns and is a hotspot for party animals. This hostel is huge and has everything including a large swimming pool, a bar and nightclub, numerous tv's, kitchens and lots of dorm and private rooms. If you are looking to meet new people and party, then this is the hostel for you.
2. Tropic Days Backpackers
Tropic Days Backpackers is one of the more relaxing hostels on our list due to the scenic gardens which surround it. This hostel is small but cozy, there is a swimming pool and lots of hammocks where you can kick back and unwind. There is also a communal kitchen, outdoor barbeque area and social spots. This hostel has a family feel about it and is less rowdy than other hostels in Cairns.
3. The Northern Greenhouse
The Northern Greenhouse (Bounce) is located in a good spot within walking distance to all the main spots. You can choose from mixed and single sex ensuite dorm rooms and lots of social events are arranged by the friendly staff. There’s also a a swimming pool and pool tables which is a great way to meet other travellers.
