2. YHA Mei Ho House
This is one of the newest backpacker hostels in Hong Kong and it is growing in popularity. This hostel is huge and there are lots of reasons to consider staying here including free breakfast every day. The location is amazing in Sham Shui Po in Kowloon, only a few minutes walk to the MTR Station. All rooms are clean, ensuite and there are also spacious common areas including a courtyard, garden, guest pantry, cafe and mini store and laundry.
3. Check Inn HK
Check Inn HK is a family-run hostel providing safe and enjoyable stays. Reviews are very positive and the hostel is located in the heart of Hong Kong Island. Benefits of staying here include free water, free local calls, free Wi-Fi and comfy beds.
4. Comfort Hostel
Comfort hostel is a friendly and social place to stay with comfortable rooms with air-conditioning, cable tv, free internet access (wifi & terminals), full laundry services, luggage storage and 24 hour resident services. The atmosphere is very positive here and staff friendly.
5. The Mahjong
The Mahjong is an amazing boutique hostel and offers great value for money. We love the design and the local authentic local neighbourhood - Tokwawan. The hostel has a large common area perfect for meeting other travellers and rooms are modern with great artwork. They also have one of the comfiest mattresses out of all the hostels on our list.
6. Mojo Nomad Aberdeen Harbour
Mojo Nomad Aberdeen Harbour by Ovolo probably has the best design out of all the hostels on our list with a vibrant bar, rooftop terrace and spacious modern rooms. This hostel isn't central but has good transport connections to the main sights. Private rooms and beds dormitory rooms are available here - both of which are great value for money.
7. Ah Shan Hostel
Ah Shan Hostel isn't going to win any awards for cutting edge design or features, but it offers a comfortable and affordable place to stay for your visit in Hong Kong. Ah Shan Hostel is located in Mongkok, seconds away from MTR Mongkok Station. Rooms are simple, clean air-conditioned with a TV, private bathroom and free Wifi.
8. Urban Pack
Urban Pack is another good value accommodation in a brilliant location just a 5-minute walk from the Star Ferry Terminal, Harbour City Mall and Avenue of Stars. The hostel has 5 different common areas to relax and rooms are air-conditioned with TV's. Free WiFi is available and there is also an impressive balcony where you can sit outside and check out the views over Kowloon Park. This is a good social hostel and perfect if you are travelling solo as daily activities like pub crawls are arranged.
9. Rainbow Lodge
Rainbow Lodge is located in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui close to the MTR station making it easy to navigate Hong Kong. Popular tourist destinations are nearby including the Avenue of Stars and Star Ferry Pier. This hostel has cozy common areas with TV and free Wi-Fi, free coffee and it is a good hostel to meet other travellers. The design and rooms aren't the most modern but it is a good place to stay for socialising as group activities are arranged by the staff.
10. Homy Inn North Point
This hostel is conveniently located in North Point only a few minutes from North Point MTR Station while the iconic Hong Kong tramway can be taken at North Point Terminus steps away. Rooms are small (standard for Hong Kong) but clean and very cheap especially compared to hotels in Hong Kong. Rooms also have air conditioning, a flat-screen TV and a bathroom with shower facilities. Free WiFi is also available.
11. Day and Night Hostel
If you want a good value for money place to stay without any thrills then this hostel will appeal to you. There are rooms of all sizes including single bed rooms for one to two persons and twin bedrooms for two to four people. The hostel is located in the heart of Hong Kong and the facilities are good for a short stay.
