Work as an Au Pair in Switzerland
A popular option when looking to au pair abroad is to work in Switzerland with a local family and helping them with their daily routine.
There are a lot of wealthy families living in places like Bern and Zurich and they hire international nannies or au-pairs to look after their children whilst they are busy working. Mainly females apply for nanny and au-pair jobs and positions are open all year round.
You can apply through an agency or direct with a host family, they will need to obtain a permit for you which you will need to enter Switzerland (this applies for non EU nationals).
Generally you will be responsible for cleaning, cooking, taking children to school, creating a fun and happy environment. Some families will book language lessons for you.
Requirements for Working as an Au Pair in Switzerland
You might need previous experience and also know basic French, Italian or German, it is advised to learn to make the interaction enhanced. To apply you will need to be available for between 12 and 18 months, and usually aged between 17 - 30.
Working Hours
Usually as a Swiss au pair you will work around 30 hours per week with a day off and also free time during the week.
Salary for Au Pairs in Switzerland
Don't expect to get paid a fortune for these roles, salaries are usually higher than other nearby countries though and remember food/accommodation is provided for free which saves you big in this expensive destination. When working as an au-pair in Switzerland you can expect to make around 100 Euros a week. Some agencies also will pay or contribute towards your flights.
