Volunteer

The Team at the Antigua & Barbuda Humane Society are amazing. They perform a myriad of duties each day. They sweep, mop, wash and fill food bowls, tidy litter boxes, clean out cages, manage the animal feedings, prepare for new arrivals, attend to visitors and the list goes on. Because of their demanding work load, they do not often have the time to spend time with the animals, petting and walking them. Here’s where you can help!

As a volunteer, you can assist us with a number of activities and day-to-day operational duties. We understand that your time is valuable and we appreciate your assistance with carrying out our mission.

Accommodation

Over the years the Antigua & Barbuda Humane Society and Antigua's Donkey Sanctuary have welcomed many wonderful volunteers who came from overseas to help with the cats and dogs at the shelter and the donkeys at the sanctuary.

To assist volunteers with accommodations, we have renovated and repurposed an existing hay barn into a volunteer apartment. The project is almost complete as can be seen from these photos. We are very proud of the work that has been completed so far.

Our hope is that the apartment will attract even more volunteers who will now be able to stay on site. There is so much work to be done at the shelter and the sanctuary and, with our small staff count, we are very grateful for all the help that we can get.

Please contact us to reserve the volunteer apartment for your next stay.
