Volunteering
We’re currently moving to the new shared site for all the chapters of Architecture for Humanity.
If you’d like to volunteer with AfH, the best thing to do is join us on the new site for the London Chapter of AfH, where we’ll be sharing news of any upcoming projects and events to get involved in.
These are still early days in the development of AfH UK and we are therefore looking for people who want to shape the organisation and for those who want to volunteer under the guidance of the organisation.
There are several ways to get involved. For example, you can:
* Help plan an event
* Raise funds
* Help with administration
* Distribute literature
* Help with technical input to projects
* Help organise our work
* Run the newsletter
* Help design/maintain our website
* Make a donation
Help for Projects
AfH UK is an organisation designed to provide assistance to organisations based in the UK who need help with projects within the built environment. For detailed information on what we do please contact us and we will send you information.
We are also assisting projects in the developing world where the promoting organisation is based in the UK.
We do not send volunteers into the field, but can recommend organisations which do.
Current Vacancies (February 2010):
Lecture Series Volunteers: Working with the Lecture Series coordinator in the Working group, you will help research speakers and venues, publicise events and help steward on the evening. We are planning lectures for this autumn. No experience necessary. 3-4 hours per week (max) + lectures.

Grant Applications: AfH UK is seeking fundraising through charitable grants. We would like assistance to help identify grants and put together applications. Experience of grant applications process would be very helpful, if not, enthusiasm and willingness to find out. Time commitment will depend on applicant’s availability. Contact info@afhuk.org
Fundraising: research and make contact with industry organizations and groups to identify possible partners for future fundraising activities. Would suit student or experienced fundraiser. Contact: Kimberley Lau though info@afhuk.org
Working Group Members: The working group works with the Trustees to keep the charity running. We are always looking for new members who can offer enthusiasm and their time. The working group takes on a number of projects: events, lectures, graphics, communication, and design projects, each WG member taking on tasks and coordinating a group of volunteers. The working group meets every 2 months to assign tasks and report on project progress. Time commitment will vary with the type of work, and availability, but will average to no more than ½ day per week.
