Our Utah Sanctuary
This is no ordinary experience. This is no roadside diversion. This is Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, a lifesaving haven for hundreds of adoptable animals, nestled in between the sprawling red rocks of Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon and Zion national parks. Lengthen your leash and experience for yourself the nature and nurture of the largest sanctuary of its kind in America.
Anyone who visits the Sanctuary will tell you: There’s just something special about this place. On any given day, about 1,600 animals call Best Friends Animal Sanctuary a home-between-homes. Dogs, cats, bunnies, birds, horses, pigs and other barnyard animals come here from all over the country, each and every one seeking a safe haven where they can find refuge, love and acceptance.
Every inch of the Sanctuary — from the majestic red rocks to the spacious animal communities — is filled with hope and kindness shown by caregivers, thousands of volunteers and so many compassionate people like you. There truly is no place else on earth like Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. If you haven’t already, we hope you’ll come experience the magic for yourself.

We want to hear from you! Share your experience and we will publish it over on Sanctuary Scoop. Simply submit your story, include the pet's name, photos/ videos of your volunteer experience to Sanctuary Stories.
Whether you help at our Sanctuary located in beautiful Angel Canyon in Kanab, Utah, in your community, or from your home, you'll make a real difference in the lives of homeless pets, meet others who love animals, and have fun!
Join the thousands of people who come from all over the world every year to work with our roughly 1,600 Sanctuary animals. From walking an enthusiastic dog, to cleaning a rabbit run, to just sitting and talking to a shy cat, there's always plenty to do.
