Established in 1968, we currently have over 15,000 members and supporters and a local network of over 30 branches nationwide.
Seasonal Jobs
The roles will involve carrying out agreed programmes of bird surveys, habitat management, research work and / or species recovery work, alone or as part of a small team. Most posts are available between April and September and require previous survey or field research experience and excellent bird identification skills.
Volunteering
Our Volunteer initiatives include Bloom Festival, Little Terns in Wicklow and Louth and Volunteer Thursdays at our East Coast Nature Reserve (ECNR) in Newcastle, Co. Wicklow. There is also a range of Volunteer Surveys that you can get involved with.

Garden Birds
Survey the birds visiting your own garden from December to February. We need participants from all over the country, all you need is a pair of binoculars, a notebook and our Garden Bird Survey Form.
I-WeBS
Help us to monitor the status of Ireland’s wintering waterbird populations and their wetlands by taking part in the Irish Wetland Bird Survey (I-WeBS).
Seabirds
Join us for the National Seabird Census in Ireland – Monitoring breeding seabird populations and assessing productivity for selected species.
