Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp annually employs more than 700 people as members of our instructional faculty, counseling and health staff, and local support staff. Seasonal employees work together to provide an outstanding summer camp experience for our participants. Working at Blue Lake is both rewarding and demanding. It requires a great deal of stamina, enthusiasm, and interpersonal skill, as well as the ability to work effectively with others. And it is the best summer job on earth.
Our camper families expect staff and faculty to serve as positive role models and mentors who provide a fun, safe, pleasant, professional, and nurturing environment for campers. To this end, Blue Lake maintains policies and standards regarding professional conduct, personal behavior, interaction with co-workers and students, appearance standards, uniform guidelines, and regulations on the use of alcohol, drugs, and social media. Employees are expected to support and follow these policies and standards. Local Support Staff
Commute daily for hourly positions in a variety of areas such as food service, housekeeping, maintenance, grounds, camp store, and administration. Dates, qualifications, and hourly rates vary by position.
Instructional Faculty
Typically university instructors or secondary school teachers, reside on campus in 2-4 week commitments. Faculty spend approximately 4-5 hours per day teaching in a variety of class settings.
Counseling Staff
Members reside with students in 9-10week commitments, including orientation and training. Counseling staff members are typically undergraduate and graduate students involved in education or arts-related fields.
Health Staff & Medical Professionals
Provide health services to the camp community. Health Staff members reside on campus for the season and are typically undergraduate students in health-related fields such as nursing, athletic training, or health science. Medical Professionals (nurses, nurse practitioners, physicians) fulfill 2-4 week commitments and are either in residence or commute.
