Spending a summer at camp can be one of the most rewarding experiences a person can undertake. Learning to live with and becoming close to campers and counselors from different backgrounds and life styles is what we’re all about.
Menominee’s camping philosophy only serves to enhance our relationships. Everyone is an imperfect being. All you can hope for is to learn from mistakes, seek forgiveness, and do everything you can not to repeat them. With the emphasis placed on making your best effort and enjoying yourself, people at C.M. are comfortable just being themselves.
A Menominee summer fosters friendships which far out last the season. Caring for and working with children is not only a great time — it’s a major responsibility. You would be hard pressed to find a more important job for two months. The impact you have on your boys is real. And, of course, the concern which overrides everything else is our campers’ safety and well-being.
Being a Counselor
Menominee’s counselors live in a cabin, along with a co-counselor, and 8-12 boys. The major focus of a counselor’s job is to insure his camper’s safety and to keep abreast of any physical or emotional needs his guys may have. This is done with a sense of excitement and humor, all the while keeping in mind the very important role model status you have at camp. Counselors also will be involved in coaching and/or instructing one or more camp activity.
Other Jobs Available
Other positions available for seasonal employment are: nurses, kitchen staff, housekeepers, and maintenance.
