We are a camp for children and adults with special needs. We serve ages 6-99 (no upper age limit). We have one full week of camp for Spring Break, 12 weeks of camp in the summer, (one week orientation, 5 weeks of campers, one week break, then 6 more weeks of camp.), and 12 more weeks of camp in the Fall!!! Each camp is divided by age and by disability.
One week you might be working with adults, 30 and up, with physical challenges (muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, cerebral palsy), while five weeks later you might have little kids 6 years old with developmental delays (down syndrome, autism, mental retardation).
There are so many more disabilities than those mentioned, but we hope that gives you more of an idea of the population that we work with. We have the same activities that a typical camp might have: nature, arts and crafts, sports and games, ropes challenge course, swimming, horses.
We are currently looking for people with a desire to work with our campers in the roles of counselors or activity directors. Our counselors are the people who are in the cabin with the campers, taking care of their personal needs (toileting, bathing, dressing) as well as their safety and making sure they are having the time of their life at camp. The activity directors are the people that are going to plan and lead the activities for all the campers at camp.
Camp Summit has employment opportunities throughout the year. Please see the following:
Spring Break Camp: March 12 – 18
Summer Camp: May 14 – August 14
Fall Camp: September 7 – December 11
Please don’t hesitate to give us a call or send me an email with any questions. We would love to speak with you for more detailed information about our job opportunities.
Thanks again for your interest in Camp Summit; it truly is a place where you can make a difference and impact the lives of those with disabilities.
