Care4Calais is a UK registered charity founded by a group of UK volunteers that aims to deliver essential aid and support to refugees in Calais and other areas, emotional as well as physical, and to encourage the wider public to be more welcoming towards refugees.
Our core focus is to ensure that the 9,000 and growing refugees in the Calais camp are supported directly with a focus on providing fresh meals, warm clothing, heating and and social interaction. We are not politicians; we are people like you who simply believe that every human has the right to be treated in a fair and dignified way.
We always need dedicated volunteers to deliver aid to the camp, to support our social program of English, art and sport workshops and to help us in our warehouse sorting through all the wonderful things people have donated.
We also need people in the UK to manage our fantastic back office operation and support with logistics, comms and all else that goes on.
In addition to working with a lovely team of people, we will provide:
- Organisation, making sure you gain experience and help refugees.
- Daily briefings on our operation, health and safety and the status of the camp.
- Comprehensive pre-departure information, advice and support from the team.
- In-country support including advice and emergency support, and occasional social events.
