We took volunteers from the UK to help develop and promote sport in the Caribbean. Participants coached football, netball, cricket, rugby, tennis and swimming in paradise. We also offered teaching placements.
Our projects looked to develop grassroots and national sport. We were involved in coaching rugby, football, netball, cricket and tennis. We also helped to teach children how to swim, and offer teaching assistant placements.
We believed that sport could make a real difference, and is a powerful way to bring about social change. With high levels of poverty and unemplyment options for young people can be very limited and many become invovled in gangs. The work of our volunteers, and long term goals fo the projects, was to offer young people a new path and make sport a viable option.
Our volunteers also enjoyed the wonders of the region and we helped arrange tours, from mud baths, rum tours and boat trips to zip lining, climbing volcanoes and swimming with turtles there is something for everyone.
Caribbean Coaching stopped operating in 2019.
