Beyond The Pamphlet
If you want a smooth transition from your home country to going abroad, CISabroad can help you with no doubts. I went to Tokyo to study abroad for the summer and if anything, my experience there has been everything BUT negative. The application online was smooth, the communication was clear, and the on-site assistant helped throughout any concerns or problems. Honestly, I wouldn’t have enjoyed or experienced as much as I did without the push and encouragement from this program. Thank you CISabroad, you have my trust.

I am STILL abroad..
I arrived in Australia to study in Newcastle in February 2017 and am currently in my THIRD semester here through CIS. I could ramble for ages regarding my love for Newy and what this program has given me, but I will try to briefly outline the experience for you:
Academics:
Uni is structured differently here - but don't let that intimidate you! The set up is far more independent and relaxed, although I must admit that the curriculum is more challenging in comparison to my university in America. You will have a lecture once a week and a lab or tutorial for the same course within the week as well. (I have added a screen shot of my upcoming timetable so you can see the structure!)
Living Situation:
From February until the beginning of December, I lived on college (on campus) at uni. At home, I have always commuted so I didn't really know what I was in for, but I was not disappointed! The "dorms" were more like apartments and they were just put up in 2015 so everything was new! I have since moved off campus nearby to uni and love this lifestyle as well! It allows more freedom and it is easier to navigate to some places, but overall I've loved both experiences.
Cultural Immersion:
I will preface this by saying that although they do speak English, YOU WILL RUN IN TO MORE LANGUAGE BARRIERS THAN YOU ANTICIPATE! In fact, I still find myself coming across them. Overall though, the Aussie culture is super easy to acclimate to!
Program Administration:
I have become great friends with my on-site coordinator in Newcastle and have always felt comfortable reaching out to her or any CISabroad staff when I've needed assistance!
Social Life:
Newcastle is a wonderful place to be social! I suffered a great deal of social anxiety in America, which was one of my main concerns when entering this program. Thankfully, I no longer have fear of social events. In fact, I look forward to them!

CIS semester in dublin
Most affordable program I found and you aren’t missing out on anything. Communication was fantastic. They send out everything you need far in advance, arrange your accommodation for you, and are available to answer any questions. When you arrive, there’s an on-site Director who is there to show you around and take you on excursions as well as answer any questions or be there in case of emergency. We went to Kilkenny, Belfast & Giants Causeway, and Cliffs of Moher & Galway for the excursions - all of which are included in the program cost (including meals!). Highly recommend, best experience of my life!

I Fell In Love With Sydney, Australia
I was student athlete in America for 9 years, then I decided I wanted to travel the world. I had no idea how to do it, but I knew I had too. I figured doing an internship would was the best route for me. I knew for a FACT that I wanted to go somewhere where they spoke English... so now I’m in Sydney, Australia! I got my internship company in no time, and the business was amazing. I felt so loved and cherished, and I learned so much while working there. My onsite coordinator was amazing and showed me around town, gave me some tips, and successfully helped me get adjusted to Aussie time and culture. My online coordinator from the States always responded to my emails in a timely fashion, and I even was able to speak with her on the phone. I have to tell you, I will definitely be booking through CISAbroad for studying abroad next year! My only complaint was the accommodation was a very small - but I’m from America so I’m used to everything being oversized ;)
Studying abroad with CISAbroad has been one of the most fulfilling things I have ever accomplished. I have experienced and met some wonderful people from all across the world. Without CISAbroad I wouldn't have been able to swim with jellyfish, scuba dive in Great Barrior Reef, or be proposed to at Burleigh Heads. Studying abroad has been the best opportunity I have had.

A Spectacular Experience
I was fortunate enough to be able to study tropical ecology in Costa Rica over the month of January 2018. It was my very first time traveling internationally and by myself so I went into it with some nerves and uncertainty. As soon as I arrived in the beautiful, biodiverse country I was right away brought to my homestay safely and exactly where I was supposed to be. Everything turned out a lot easier than I expected with a tour of the city and orientation on the first day. My coordinator, Lisa, was super helpful before and during the trip to provide me with everything I needed to have an amazing experience. She was very knowledgeable of Costa Rica and the city of San Jose where we stayed which made me feel very comfortable. I was able to go on some incredible excursions with the group to Manuel Antonio Beach and Tortuga Island which were places I could only dream of before. Especially being a small town girl from the Midwest, my experience in Costa Rica broadened my perspective on the world and gave me a very memorable experience of living in a whole different culture. I'm very grateful for being able to meet people from all over the world on this trip and my new love of traveling to discover new cultures.

A Priceless Experience
The time I spent in London is one I will treasure for the rest of my life. I got to live in Camden, work in Oxford Circus, and I was able to travel almost every weekend to beautiful cities including Paris, Amsterdam, Prague, Barcelona, and Bruges. I made connections and friendships that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I also learned a lot about myself and what it takes to make decisions with limited knowledge and resources. I am glad I had the opportunity to complete this internship, and I hope the London program has a successful future.

Internship in Italy
I had the pleasure of acquiring an internship through World Internships via CIS abroad and I must admit as with anyone about to embark on an internship in a foreign country I was wary to begin with. But once I arrived my worries completely wore away. To start with the follow through and feedback of the student advisors was very thorough. Firstly the handling of the pre-internship phase was very organized, there was feedback via mail constantly and Skype interviews for a pre-screening phase. Once housing and placement is decided and everything is in order, CISabroad offered someone to pick me up from the airport. Afterwards, with housing and placement the advisors gave us a tour of the area and additionally some advice and tips of how to get around in the city as well as a full tour of the important areas in the city as well. In addition, the interns and work supervisors could communicate to the CISabroad advisors if there were any concerns about work etc. Thankfully with my placement there wasn't. Our advisor Romina was really good at getting feedback and helped us as interns when any issues arised, we as interns couldn't have managed without her especially since I had financial issues transferring the funds to CISabroad in the beginning. The internship also included language classes along with day trips to neighboring areas such as Perugia and Castel Gandolfo with interesting culturally assimilating activities like sampling foods and tours. I definitely couldn't have asked for a better experience and I urge people to explore Europe via CISabroad or World Internsips because it truly is enriching!
