Featherdale Wildlife Park is an Australian zoo in Doonside, west of the Sydney CBD. It specialises in Australian native wildlife and birds, as well as reptiles and marsupials.

Featherdale Wildlife Park provides volunteer opportunities to approximately 70 animal loving volunteers throughout the year!

Student Volunteer - Aimed more towards education and providing an entry into the Captive Animal industry, this programme looks to rotate volunteers through the different areas of animal management.

Criteria:

Studying Captive Animals or Animal Studies at TAFE
Able to commit to a minimum of 8 hours per week
Passionate, driven and energetic

As a valued member of the Featherdale animal care team, volunteers will be given all the knowledge and training required to carry out day to day duties and answer questions from visitors.

Work Placements

Early morning starts, working outside in rainy weather and picking up animal poo is not everyone’s cup of tea but if we haven’t managed to turn your mind off working in the zoological industry, then conducting work placement at Featherdale is one of the best opportunities school students have of determining whether their chosen career path is one they wish to pursue.

Featherdale runs a Work Placement Program that provides a space for students studying in year 10 and 11. Work placement consists of a 5 day block week where you get the opportunity to learn what it’s really like to lead the life of a zoo keeper. Business and Tourism students are also welcome to conduct work placement in Featherdale’s retail and administration departments.

Employment

Featherdale employs a dedicated team who manage the daily running of one of NSW’s major tourist attractions. Employment opportunities are generally offered to our volunteer and work experience staff when possible. When positions are available, they will be listed below.
