Being the least populated region in Israel, means that it is home to a wide variety of people such as the nomadic desert people known as the Bedouin and an incredible mix of unique African wildlife.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
Your adventure will begin in Jerusalem, where you will be given a comprehensive orientation to prepare you for the period of volunteer work in the desert. You will be provided with detailed travel advice and taken on a walking tour of the Old City and the famous Machane Yehuda market. We will even provide you with a discount card to experience Jerusalem’s vibrant night-life! The following day you will make your way down to the project site in the Arava desert by public transport.
Once at the project, volunteers will become an integral part of the staff at the wildlife reserve, helping out with the day to day running of the centre wherever they are needed most. Volunteer duties may include the following:
- Preparing food and feeding animals
- Cleaning and maintaining reserve facilities and enclosures
- Accompanying & assisting park rangers
- Constructing enrichment facilities for the animals
Your working hours will typically be from 7:00 until 15:30 Sunday to Thursday, however please be aware that this is a guideline only and schedules may change from week to week. Fridays and Saturdays are free days.
