Enter the global scuba diving industry with a professional diving qualification combined with work experience and marine conservation training.

This PADI Divemaster internship is at a popular marine conservation and diving NGO which could open the door to a wealth of career opportunities for you as a dive instructor or future marine conservationist. You will join our fun and exciting team of experienced dive instructors for this 6 week internship on the stunning island of Koh Tao.

Our experienced instructors take you through a carefully planned programme and supervise you throughout to ensure that you get the most out of your internship. The Divemaster training itself is a fantastic experience, and the time that you share with your colleagues learning and enjoying the simple things in life is guaranteed to leave you with some unforgettable memories! 

 

What to Expect

You will be shown the ropes and introduced to the staff as you shadow the more experienced members of team. The course itself has a range of practical and theoretical elements. There are eight exams to complete under the guidance of your instructor. The exams cover topics such as diving physiology, decompression theory and dive equipment as well as other topics of interest. The course is run as an internship which will see you involved in all aspects of the dive school.

You will be required to attend the dive school every day and help with the operation of the school which may include activities such as equipment maintenance and looking after the divers once they arrive in the shop. Of course this also means that you can join our early evening yoga class on the veranda overlooking the bay as the sun sets each evening.

Throughout your internship you will develop your experience supervising general diving activities for certified divers right through to eventually leading certified divers on fun dives. In addition you will assist the instructors with student diver training. The third component of this course is to improve your skills and test your limits in the water. You will be required to perform a variety of swim tests to check your endurance and physical fitness.  You will also learn how to demonstrate dive skills at an instructor level.

The Divemaster internship is a fantastic experience giving you the opportunity to learn and experience the simple things in life with the team. You need to have completed the other courses to advance to this level and once you become a Divemaster the whole world will become your oyster.

The course includes a minimum of 60 dives. 

Please be aware that you should not fly for a minimum of 24 hours following a diving session, so take this into consideration when booking your flights home. Additionally, we recommend checking with your doctor prior to departure to this project, as some medical conditions can prevent you from diving safely, namely; pregnancy, flu, heart and/or lung condition(s), diabetes, asthma, and epilepsy, whilst it is also advised you have a good level of fitness.
