Take to the jungles surrounding the Malayan Rainforest Station and search for signs of life. Dip your toes in the underwater world of the Perhentian Marine Research Station and take conservation action whilst diving.
Join our team on anti-poaching patrols on the border of Taman Negara. The wildlife corridor between the Taman Negara National Park and the main mountain range in West Malaysia is where poaching is at its densest! We aim to reduce human impacts in that area. Search for signs of life and track clues of human activities and collect data on animal footprints which are vital to our database.
Volunteers will also get to visit limestone caves and join in our efforts to preserve these natural caves. You will also get to learn from the Batek (a local indigenous tribe) and go forage and camp with them. Together, you will build a shelter out of leaves to sleep under, learn how to make fire, cut your own bamboo cup and cook in bamboo!
Next, you will head over to the Perhentian Islands and dive into the aquamarine waters while aiding our researchers to collect data on corals reefs and artificial reefs. We aim to map and assess the health of the coral reefs and other habitats around the islands. Volunteers will also get to participate in our other mini projects during their stay such as promoting composting and recycling to resorts and dive centres.
