This is a great way to be more than just your average tourist and see towns, villages, countryside and cities on your bike. The route you will travel will be spectacular and you will see diverse landscapes and destinations. Highlights of the trip include visiting the Masaya Volcano National Park, taking a bus along the Pan-American Highway and seeing the Arenal and Irazu Volcanos.
It not all hard work riding either, there will be time to relax and go swimming and snorkelling in the crystal clear waters. During this trip there will be an abundance of wildlife, beautiful beaches and a visit to the Caribbean islands of Bocas del Toro which are stunning. You will also be able to take in colonial architecture in places like Grenada and Orosi and explore these places on foot.
Bikes are supplied and you will need a good level of fitness to join these trips. There are usually around 10 people on each trip so you will also make friends from all over the world.
Itinerary
Day 1 Granada
Tours starts and meet your group and leader.
Day 2-3 Ometepe
Cycle to Masaya Volcano National Park and transfer by bus along the Pan-American Highway before reaching the ferry to cross Lake Nicaragua for a homestay on Ometepe.
Day 4-5 La Fortuna
Continue along the Pan-American Highway and cycle around Arenal Lake on the way to La Fortuna. Half-day guided hike around Arenal Volcano to El Castillo.
Day 6-7 San Jose
Cycle from Arenal to San Jose, then follow downhill tracks on the slope of Costa Rica's highest volcano, Volcano Irazú, to the colonial town of Orosi.
Day 8 Turrialba
Continue cycling along the scenic Orosi and Reventazon River valleys, past coffee and sugar cane plantations to Turrialba.
Day 9-10 Puerto Viejo
Raft through the land of the Cabecar indigenous tribe, stopping for a riverside picnic lunch before continuing down river to the Caribbean lowlands. Free time at Puerto Viejo to relax at the beach or enjoy the beauty of Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge.
Day 11-12 Bocas del Toro
Cross the Panamanian border and transfer from Changuinola across to the Caribbean islands of Bocas del Toro. There's plenty of free time here to cycle around the islands or snorkel in the clear blue sea.
Day 13-14 Boquete
Return to mainland Panama and transfer across the isthmus to the highlands of Boquete. There is time to relax here or visit Caldera hot springs before your guide takes you through the highlands on pristine wide highland tracks.
Day 15 Panama City
Transfer to Panama City.
Day 16 Panama City
Cycle to Soberania National Park. Tour ends this afternoon, depart after 3pm.
