Gap Chile is looking for young energetic people who want to help this small community and really make a difference.
You tailor your own Gap experience and can choose to work; in our nursery school, a local orphanage, the red cross, the valpo surf project, a rehabilitation centre, help the elderly, teach music and much more. In your spare time excursions are arranged for volunteers to see the country in which they are working in, our most recent volunteers have learn't to snowboard in the Andes, learn't to surf at nearby beaches and explored both North and South of Chile.
Our placement includes: Volunteer placement in the school and local projects. Accommodation in the house. Food whilst staying at the house. Transport to and from the airport in chile. English and Chilean assistance throughout.
Travelling abroad alone can be one of the most daunting experiences, and with Gap Chile we try to make the transition from home to abroad as stress free as possible. We have English speaking assistance both in England and in the school itself so new students don't feel completely at a loss! Each student can request their own requirements whether it's their own Spanish tutor, their own guide or even someone to take them to different places at the weekend.
Gap Chile is closely linked with the Elisa Education Trust(charity number 1104648) and all money raised from Gap volunteers goes directly to keeping the nursery school running, giving underpriviliged young adults the opportunity to study at university and orphans the chance to gain a good education with scholarships into better schools.
The family behind GapChile and the Elisa Education Trust's primary concern is the education of young people in the community. On this volunteer program you really see where your money goes and can be happy in the knowledge that your stay here has improved someone else's life and given them the opportunity to gain a good education.
Volunteers have a huge positive impact on local communities but also learn a lot about themselves too. They help to build up a community and get involved with a culture rather than just observing it. They push their own limits and step outside their box to experience once in a life time challenges and build their own special memories.
Whether you decide to get involved with Gap Chile or not, we still think volunteer work with any project in any place of the world is one of the most exciting things you could ever do, and we wanted to provide an opportunity for any young student to do so.
