Centro Internacional de Idiomas is a Spanish Language Immersion school located in La Ceiba, Honduras, Central America. Spanish is taught on a one on one student teacher ratio or up to three students per group, focusing in conversation practice, grammar, readings and the vocabulary according to the student level and needs.
The program is based in 20 hours per week, 4 hours per day from Monday through Friday. There are morning and afternoon sessions from 7:30 a.m to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. All our teachers are certified and must pass an entrance exam in order to work in our school. They are university graduates and some of them are bilingual for those at the very beginning level. Students at all levels are accepted. Teacher work on a daily planning depending of the student's level.
Students have the opportunity of living with a local Spanish speaking family while attending school. Each student will have a private room and bathroom and 3 meals per day are provided. Students are met at the airport or bus station by the owners of the school and taken directly to their host family. Students can arrive and stay with their family 2 days in advance to start their program in order to get to know the members of the family and get familiar with the town. They receive an orientation session upon arrival.
Homestays are within walking distance from school. The homes are inspected by the school on a regular basis to ensure that they continue to meet the school's standards like (meals based on nutritional facts, cooperation with the student, etc). A key of the house is given to the student so he/she can go in and out at their own convenience.
