What historical events made London a still-thriving center of cultural activity? What’s happening in London’s West End theater district in the present day?
You’ll explore these questions and others during this one-week educational tour. Enjoy local performances, learn about the world of theater in London’s days of old. Go way back to Roman times with a visit to Bath and even further back with a trip to Stonehenge. And in the process, make new friends who share your interests in theater, art, history, and travel!
Exploring theater in the United Kingdom
While this program is not exclusively focused on theater, it is a central theme and you’ll have the chance to attend several performances in London’s West End during the week. You’ll also get to explore the history of theater in the region with a visit to the Globe Theater (including a workshop), and a tour of Shakepeare’s childhood home in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Group discussion
Reflection and discussion will be key to making sense of your many site visits and making connections to life back home. Your trip leader will lead discussions each day, sometimes casually over meals and sometimes more structured.
Cultural and historical site visits
There is so much art, history, and culture to experience in London. This program helps ensure that you can appreciate this in a meaningful way with visits to the Tate Modern, Victoria & Albert Museum, the British Museum, the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, and more. Beyond London, you’ll also explore Stonehenge, Bath, Stratford-upon-Avon, and the world renowned university town of Oxford.
