While the islands of Turks and Caicos are rich in scenery and marine life, their healthcare system suffers immensely due to remoteness and lack of medical health professionals. Indeed, the ratio of physicians to population is 10.8 to 10000, respectively. Consequently, thousands of residents die from preventable causes every year. Refugees are overrepresented in these fatalities. International Medical Relief has been invited to intervene in the remote islands of Turks and Caicos to provide quality medical assistance to citizens who would otherwise be unable to access it.
International Medical Relief will be traveling to the Turks and Caicos islands to provide its residents with much-needed health care services and medications. We will attend to children, women, families, the elderly and more. All community members are invited to visit and be provided with education on how to stay healthy and care for their loved ones. We will treat a wide variety of acute and chronic illnesses, including Plasmodium falciparum malaria, Zika, dengue, and chikungunya.
As a reward for your hard work and service, the team will be staying at the all-inclusive luxury Beaches resort, fully equipped with three infinity pool, five restaurants, nightly entertainment, and a private beach. After flying into Grace Bay, you will be transported to the resort. If you fly on the group ticket, all transportation will be arranged. You have the option to extend your stay to explore more of Turks and Caicos’ culture, marine life, and scenery. If you choose to do so, further accommodation and transportation will be arranged for a small fee.
While the most rewarding aspect of this trip will be caring for the refugees, the team will also have the opportunity to visit some of the islands’ top attractions. The trip’s highlights include a visit to a local conch farm, a night out on the town enjoying local cuisine, and snorkeling trips!
