Experience ancient Israel from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv visiting Tiberias and Jericho. Undertake your own pilgrimage to one of the world’s great holy lands on this short but sweet uncovering of Israel’s highlights.
Entrenched in the ancient but emphatically modern in outlook, nominally Jewish but with oodles of Muslim and Christian influence, this is one intriguing place to get your head around. Stroll the Old City’s age-old ramparts in Jerusalem, visit the spot Jesus entered the world in Bethlehem and see where some pretty steadfast Jews held out on Massada’s rugged outcrop. Break bread with Palestinians in Nablus’ Old City, go for a swim with a difference in the Dead Sea and get among the everyday hype of Tel Aviv. Young or old, fun-minded or enthralled by history, Israel has more than a little bit of something for everyone.

Welcome to Jerusalem, a city steeped in spirituality and legend. Get a feel for Israel’s hub of holiness while exploring the Old City, perhaps heading up the walled ramparts for impressive panoramas over the surrounds.
Day 2 Jerusalem
Climb up the Mount of Olives this morning and enjoy a panoramic view of the Old City. Take a trip to the Church of the Nativity and then take a walking tour of the city starting at St Stephen’s Gate.
Day 3 Jerusalem
Head south today and on to Masada. On the way make a stop at the shrine of Nabi Musa in the Judean Desert. Travel on to the 6th century cliff-side Monastery of St George of Koziba before continuing on to the ancient fortification of Masada, built by King Herod atop a plateau. Wash off any desert dust with a dip in the Dead Sea and return to Jerusalem for the evening.
Day 4 Jerusalem
Pay an early morning visit to the holy sites of the Courtyard of the Dome and the Wailing Wall. Journey out to Taybeh and visit the pioneering microbrewery there and, time permitting, the winery. Enjoy lunch in Taybeh and then head on to Yad Vashem – the Israel Holocaust Museum.
Day 5&6 Nazareth
Travel to the western shores of the Sea of Galilee today and to Tiberias – established way back in AD20. Stop in the Jordan Valley along the way to visit the ancient fishing village of Capernaum. Then head up to Tsfat (Safed) – one of Judaism’s Four Holy Cities. Continue on to arrive in Nazareth for the evening.
