Kawempe youth Centre is a not-for-profit organization with a vision of “building literate communities”.

In promoting education, KYC provides library services, computer training and a mobile library as well as children’s activities.

KYC in collaboration with its education partners provides volunteer placements/internships to international volunteers to work on educational, health and community-based projects in its project areas.

Welcoming experience

Hi, Last year I took placement with Kawempe Youth Centre for a period of 3 months. My home-stay was a good experience since I got to live with warm people that made my stay very comfortable. My work at Kezah Medical Centre was rewarding too. Given that I am planning on joining medical school, it gave me first-hand exposure to health issues in a developing country setting.
After medical school, I plan on coming back to practice here for some time so as to get a good background in tropical medicine.

Thanks to the Team at Kezah medical centre, my entire host family, Timothy-my coordinator through out my stay and all the wonderful people I came into contact with during my stay. I miss you all.
