This essential program works in a residential care home for the destitute. Volunteers are desperately sought to help in the facility which houses both destitute elderly people and elderly residents with health and disability problems.
The volunteer’s duties include cooking, assisting with feeding residents, reading and accompanying them on walks, doing handcrafts and playing games. Volunteers are needed to offer daily support to residents, but also to spend time with them. Many of the residents have been abandoned by their families and have few visitors. This volunteer program brightens the days for the residents, making their time fun and importantly, shows them that they are loved and important members of society.
It is essential that volunteers are enthusiastic and flexible as this program needs motivated volunteers who love caring for people and are willing to dedicate themselves to a number of tasks to enable the successful running of the facility. This program provides volunteers with the opportunity to share their knowledge and skills, but most importantly, compassion, with those in need. For volunteers who really want to help those who have been marginalized in society – this program offers an amazing opportunity to help those in huge need.

Requirements
Love Volunteers welcomes all those 18 years and over who wish to assist in the support and development of some of Ecuador's most marginalized people - it's senior citizens. While this highly rewarding project does not require participants to have a background in the field of elderly care, as there are many ways you can assist, volunteers with suitable education, qualifications or experience are highly sought after. Regardless, a volunteer’s individual role can often be tailored to suit their particular skills and interests. Volunteers on this project will need an understanding of Spanish in order to communicate effectively with the seniors and local staff members. All applicants must of course display a genuine willingness to help, show drive, initiative and compassion, and bring a positive 'can-do' attitude. If this sounds like you, we want you on the team!
Additionally, volunteers applying to join this program will be required to supply to following documentation:
