For girls who have suffered abuse and neglect, a safe place to re-group and thrive is essential to their well-being and future happiness.
This inspiring program helps marginalized girls in the historic city of Granada, Nicaragua to seek a safe and happy life after significant abuse or hardship. This program strives to help ‘las chicas’ (the girls) to overcome their traumas from physical and emotional abuses by providing a safe and caring environment where they can develop their self-esteem and work towards a brighter future.
The program provides much-needed help, love and compassion to girls of various ages up to 18 years who have suffered at the hands of others, giving them the guidance and unwaivering support needed to achieve a happier life. Volunteers on this program provide essential labor and, most importantly, companionship for the girls at a time in their lives where they are vulnerable and in need of a friendly face. Volunteers with empathy and warmth are encouraged to apply for this vital initiative that changes lives for the better.
Goals of this Project:
-
Provide essential care and support to vulnerable girls and young women
-
Improve the future prospects of those who have been abused
-
Give impoverished children and young women quality care, compassion and a sense of hope
-
Enable inter-cultural exchange which benefits both locals and international volunteers alike

Requirements
Love Volunteers welcomes all female volunteers 18 years and over who wish to help us provide support to some of Nicaragua's most marginalized and vulnerable women. While this challenging project does not require participants to have a background in the fields of social work, counselling and/or Women’s studies, as there are many ways you can assist, volunteers with suitable education, qualifications or experience are highly sought after. Regardless, a volunteer’s individual role can often be tailored to suit their particular skills and interests. All applicants must of course display a genuine willingness to help, show drive and initiative, and bring a positive 'can-do' attitude. If this sounds like you, we want you on the team!
