Responsibilities
- The cook is responsible for seeing that the kitchen, dining and storage areas are clean and organized at all times
- Plan menu of nutritious kid friendly food
- Prepare, cook, and serve all meals and snacks
- All communications with food distributors and suppliers
- All food and dry good ordering
- Supervise unloading, organization, and storage of all food and supplies
- Inventory & tracking of dry goods area as well as all food storage areas
- Track all purchasing and other outlays to determine per meal and per serving costs
- Maintain all ordering within budgetary guidelines
- Keeping up to date daily refrigerator and freezer temperature logs
- Become familiar with all applicable swiss and Lovell Camps Regulations
- Plan and run Dining Hall & Meal Time Orientation for all staff during training week as well as for camper groups during the first full day of each session
- The cook must train and supervise his or her full-time assistant.
- When the cook has a day off and other staff members must prepare the menu and food, the cook is responsible for reviewing this menu and making sure that all ingredients are ordered and there.
- The cook must be familiar with camp schedule and plan and provide appropriate meals for excursions and overnights.
- The cook must also meet on a weekly basis with the Director and other staff members and assist in a planning capacity.
Qualifications
- Minimum age, 25
- Preferably a diploma or degree in food management and/or cooking
- Quantity cooking, menu planning, etc
Salary and Benefits
- Salary dependent on education, experience and years at camp.
- (Full room and board) meals served in the dining room) are provided. Accommodation is either at the Mountain Lodge or in a room in Saanen. Rooms may be shared.
