WHAT WE DO?

Maraneman Adventure Academy offers a very comprehensive program, which exposes gappers to a vast field of experiences and adventures to last a lifetime.  Program activities depend on the duration chosen by gappers, but could include the following: 

 

  1. EXCITING TOURS
  • Safari to the Kruger National Park (South Africa).
  • Tour to Chobe National Park (Botswana)/Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe).
  • Coastal tour to Kwazulu Natal (South Africa) which includes focus on marine conservation with visits to the Natal’s Sharks Board, Ushaka Marine World & Water Park, Crocodile Farm, Shark Cage Diving, etc.
  • A weekend visit to the Magaliesberg where an exciting zip-line Treetop Canopy Tour will be done through the mountains.
  • Tour Cape Town.

  • Teambuilding & Adventure Activities and games.
  • Hospitality & Catering training.
  • High Ropes & Abseiling.
  • Archery & Raft Building.

  1. VOLUNTARY WORK WITH WILD ANIMALS
  • Practical voluntary work will be done by gappers at the Lion Park or Crocodile Farm.
  • Gappers will get the opportunity to work with Lions, Leopards, and much more.

 

  1. CAMP COUNSELLING & ADVENTURE FACILITATION
  • Camp counselling (similar to Summer Camps in the US) and presentation of camp activities will be done by gappers, depending on chosen gap program.

 

  1. SIGHT SEEING & OUTINGS
  • Day visit to the Valley of the Waves at the Lost City of Sun City
  • Gold Reef City Theme Park
  • Bush Baby Monkey Sanctuary
  • Emerald Animal World, Aqua Dome and fun Park
  • Crocodile Farm
  • Lion Park
  • River Rafting in Parys

 

  1. SOCIAL UPLIFTMENT PROJECTS / OUTREACHES
  • Specific days are set out on each program for outreaches to a nearby disadvantaged community.
  • These projects will vary in theme and can include: soup kiitchens, painting homes, visiting preschools to teach practical life skills etc.
  • Gappers are included in the planning process, to keep outreaches fresh and relevant to the needs of the community.
     
  1. CONSERVATION TRAINING / EXPERIENCES
  • Maraneman Adventure Academy is passionate about conserving wildlife and our environment.  A lot of attention is given to expand our gappers knowledge around these issues, with the practical application of everything learnt.
  • Many of our excursions have a portion included that focusses mainly on conservation.  These excursions include:  Kruger Safari, Coastal Tour, Emerald Animal World, Bush Baby Monkey Sanctuary, Lion Park and Crocodile Farm.

 

WHERE ARE WE?

The Maraneman Adventure Academy campus is situated on the waterfront of the spectacular Vaaldam, within a private game farm and secure estate (Oranjeville, South Africa).  Gappers will enjoy a very home-like environment, with separate accommodation and bathroom facilities for males and females.  The campus has a fully equipped gym with heated pool.  A communal kitchen, dining and lounge area is shared by all gappers with access to television and wifi facilities.

The campus is just 900 meters away from the where camp counselling will be done (Maraneman Adventure Camps), as per program selection of each gapper.
