The Marathon Hotel is everything you would expect of a hotel originally built over a century ago by a retired sea captain. The hotel has been well maintained over the years. It still retains the charm and leisurely living of another age. Antiques and period décor compliment the mood.
You will be welcomed and served with gracious hospitality during your stay. The rooms are sun-clean and inviting. Many of them overlook the harbour. All have private bath.

Grand Manan Island offers you a leisurely uncrowned, relaxing vacation where you will be surrounded by the sea, and unspoiled nature. Grand Manan is a beautiful Maritime fishing community, an old world island where courtesy and character are important.
We present two sides of the sea and you will want to visit both. You can walk, cycle, or drive. Grand Manan is only five miles wide and three times as long, but you will find much to explore. On the west are the craggy cliffs with surf pounding. To the east there are stretches of white beaches, Castalia Marsh, pirate coves, inlets, and sheltered rocks.
Sunsets are enjoyed from Long Eddy Point Lighthouse on the Whistle Rd. Southern Head Lighthouse has a great view to Maine, and Swallowtail Lighthouse for a view of mainland New Brunswick from the north.
You can watch whales from sea or shore, take a natural history tour, try sea kayaking, or travel by boat to Machias Seal Island to view nesting puffins.
The island has a number of craftsmen and artist inspired by the scenery, wildlife, and peaceful environment. Grand Manan Island is renowned as a naturalists' and bird watchers' paradise. The island teems with more than 275 species of birds that impressed even J.J. Audubon when he spent time here in 1833. The Grand Manan Museum has a large display of birds, along with other items of local interest.
Children will have a wonderful time in a healthy and active return to the fun and adventure found in nature.
