Mat McLachlan Battlefield Tours is part of the touring division of McLachlan Travel Group, a family company that has been prominent in the Australian travel industry for more than 30 years. We are proud to offer a selection of touring opportunities and trust that you will find exactly the style of tour you are looking for.
Group Tours
These are as the name suggests. You will travel with a group of like-minded clients generally on-board a coach or minibus. Group sizes can vary from just a few up to 40. We rarely would have more than 35-40 clients on one coach, and would rather add an additional coach if this were the case. Our most popular tours are conducted as group tours and include our Western Front Explorer series as well as all our Anniversary and Centenary tours.
Walking Tours
Battlefields were meant to be walked and our Walking Tours offer the prefect balance between seeing the battlefields as the Anzacs saw them – on foot, and comfortable touring vehicles for the touring in between. Highlights are walking across the WW1 battlefields in the footsteps of the Diggers, along trenches and through woods and fields, discovering pillboxes and relics from the fighting that are still there.
Flexi Tours
These depart virtually every day from major cities and are designed to slot neatly into existing itineraries. They are totally flexible and can be moulded to suit individual client interests. They are generally private or at most very small groups, and cover all fields of Australia’s military involvement. They can go places where our Group Tours can’t!
Centenary Tours
There are a number of tours that feature the Centenary Anniversaries of iconic WW1 battles over the next 3 years. Each tour features comprehensive battlefield touring coupled with the official ceremonies put on by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs or Australian Government. These are never to-be-repeated events that will not be forgotten by those who attend.
Custom Group Tours
A custom battlefield tour enables you to create a unique itinerary and only visit the sites that are important to you. We can accommodate group sizes from around 15 up to 500 or more, and can provide a range of accommodation options to suit any budget. The same expert war Historians and Tour Managers who travel with our regular departures will accompany your tour – Mat may even be available to escort the group himself!
School Group Tours
Mat McLachlan Battlefield Tours is one of Australia’s leading suppliers of school group tours. Every year we send hundreds of students and cadets on tours of hallowed Australian battlefields all over the world.
