You can also help out at a children's hospital, helping out with play therapy and ensuriing that the kids recover as quickly as possible.
Romania is a beautiful place to be based on this medical internship. You will be living in the medieval city of Brasov, in a rented flat with other volunteers. On your doorstep are lots of lovely bars, restaurants, cafes, shops and more - you are right in the heart of the old city.
On the medical internship, you will be working with both children and the elderly. You can choose to specialise in one area, although most people take part in both areas of the project to increase their work experience. The kids and adults alike both love having our interns look after them, and it brings a lot of joy to have other people caring for them.
You can get involved in a variety of tasks such as:
- Play therapy at the children's hospital
- Teaching English at the children's hospital
- Taking blood pressure and allocating medication on the mobile medical unit
- Helping to apply bandages, remove bandages and clean wounds
- Talking to patients and reassuring them
- Shadowing the physiotherapists, nurses and doctors
Interns spend 1 - 4 weeks on this project. The longer you stay, the more experience you will get.
