Our core purpose is to help migrants in crisis or at risk, ensuring they can live in safety, overcome the barriers they face, and take control of their own destinies. From our east London base, we strive for a world where people are not defined by their immigration status, and everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
Solidarity, inclusiveness, respect, and a hunger for justice are key values of our work. We treasure the shared humanity between those needing and offering support. Our services don’t just support our users; they empower them.
Volunteer
Our work would not be possible without volunteers. From providing advice to running workshops, there are countless opportunities to get involved. It is a fantastic way to support your community with an experience that will stay with you for a lifetime.
Volunteers get involved in group sessions, workshops, fundraising, case work, interviews, grant applications, digital communications, and more. They allow Praxis to support as many people as possible, all the while strengthening the sense of community that underpins our work.
In addition to being essential parts of the Praxis family, volunteers gain first-hand experience supporting people in difficult circumstances, coordinating projects, and working in teams.
Who are we looking for
Anyone can be a Praxis volunteer. If you’re over 18 and want to help others, we would be delighted to hear from you. We will provide necessary training and support throughout your time volunteering with us. Let’s work together.
We welcome people with different skills and from different backgrounds. If you are an expert in your field, that expertise will be given space to shine. If you are at the start of your professional life, that eagerness will be put to good use. We only ask that volunteers be enthusiastic and empathetic. We will do everything we can to meet you halfway and make the experience enriching and productive for all involved.
