Whether you are a pre-university student, an undergraduate, a qualified vet, or are simply passionate about helping animals you can get involved in this project. As a volunteer in Mexico you will be working at an animal rescue centre in Guadalajara.
The centre is home to a large number of wild animals, including a range of reptiles and birds. The centre also treats domestic animals and many animals are treated and rehabilitated for release back into the wild.
The centre is understaffed so the help of volunteers is greatly appreciated. Volunteers can get involved in many aspects of animal care; you will assist with feeding the animals, cleaning and maintaining enclosures, and assist the specialists in retraining animals to live independently. Volunteers who are staying for 12 weeks or longer can also get involved in falcon training.
Volunteers who are specifically interested in birds of prey can join a full-time falconry project, assisting with the rehabilitation of injured and rescued birds.
