Our goals include helping volunteers find placement that will make a significant and positive difference in the local community, and to achieve such an experience in a safe and cost effective manner. The Hostel was established with the support of past volunteers from Australia and Denmark. From previous volunteering experiences these young people found that often volunteering programs can be costly and not provide the promised opportunities. With this in mind, they along with two Tanzanian locals Amran Kimaro and Hans Nelson, established Rafiki Volunteers with an aim to offer the genuine rewarding experience that future volunteers are searching for.

Rafiki (meaning 'friend' in Swahili) offers medical, teaching and orphanage placements to volunteers from around the globe. We match each volunteer with a placement that can best utilize their individual skill set, as well as what they would like to achieve through volunteering in Tanzania.
The directors, Amran and Hans, work alongside the volunteers to ensure that the work being accomplished is truly beneficial to the lives of people in need.
