Refugio Cantalobos is looking for international volunteers to help out in diverse fields: socialising dogs, bathing them, training them to walk on leads, painting, gardening, cleaning, mainteanance,....and of course bringing in some new ideas.
We don´t offer accomodation or meals, but we are happy to help you find something suitable. It will be best to stay in La Herradura, as this is where we will pick you up and drop you off each day. La Herradura offers great and cheap accomodations, some of them even directly at the beach. So in your time off you can enjoy beachlife, restaurants and so on. For week- ends you can visit Malaga, Granada, Sevilla, Gibraltar and so on.
Working hours are Monday to Friday from about 10 am to 2 pm.
The shelter is taking in abandoned dogs of the area, from killing stations and so on. We rehabilitate them and find them new homes. We also work with a holisitic vet to give them the most natural treatment as possible.
Also we have an educational centre, where the goal is to teach local school classes things about animal welfare and the importance of spading and neutering. With this we want to help raising a better awareness for the next generation and work with sustainabilitiy. In the centre we also want to offer some alternative courses like Reiki, homeopathy or others.
