In many countries, Greece being one of them, you legally need an official sailing certificate in order to charter a yacht.
There are two options with training courses: A private course (you hire your own yacht and have your own dedicated instructor) OR the more traditional course structure of mixed individuals course. We are more than happy to teach different courses on the same yacht if you have crew of mixed experience.
At Sail Ionian we have a maximum of 4 trainees on board for the week. The RYA conditions allow for up to 5 pupils but we feel the smaller group size gives more time for individual tuition and attention to all on board, in order to practice and demonstrate skills.
We are situated in an ideal area for both sailing and power handling and aim to provide a unique, valuable and fun learning experience!
What is the RYA?
The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) is the national body for all forms of boating under power or sail, including dinghy and yacht racing, motor and sail cruising, RIBs and sports boats, powerboat racing, windsurfing, inland cruising and narrowboats, and personal watercraft.
