SAF is a fully registered organization in Uganda, East Africa and works with the poor to overcome poverty and injustice and alleviate the distress of the vulnerable and defenseless, we provide care and support to those in society who are in need of compassion, disenfranchised or have been rendered voiceless. We serve all people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, gender or economic back ground.
SAF accept the following volunteers. Child (Orphans) care givers, Teachers for ages2-6 years, 6-13 and 13-19years (teaching language is English), Health care, music, Dance & drama, Sports and Games (recreation),Art and culture, Community empowerment (focus on women and youth) and Environmental protection (tree Planting). All volunteers will primarily be based at our shelter assisting in our school and child Centre to provide care and love to orphans and other community vulnerable children.
As a volunteer on one of our Teaching projects, you have the opportunity to work with students of all ages from very different backgrounds and circumstances to your own, helping give them the confidence and improving their ability to use conversational English.
Some volunteers also have the opportunity to teach a variety of other subjects too and there is often scope to incorporate your own skills into your classroom schedule. You may be placed as an assistant to a local teacher, with another volunteer, or teaching a class independently however, all volunteers will have the opportunity to devise or contribute to lesson plans and of course, will be given guidance and help!
