Help sharks by giving time

Skate and Ray Database

We are looking for volunteers to help us create a comprehensive skate and ray database to go alongside our ever-growing shark database. You will be allocated a selection of skate or ray species with an information sheet that you will fill out and email back to us at enquiries@sharktrust.org. The information that you provide us will then be put onto the website for the public to use.

This is a great opportunity to learn about skates and rays that are found all over the world and will allow you to improve your research and writing techniques. We are looking for volunteers that are able to write concisely and in their own words.

Please be aware that some skates and rays that will be allocated to you will have very little information on their life history bur this will be a unique opportunity to reseach a poorly understood marine class.

If you would like to get involved and take on the challenge then please contact the Shark Trust at enquiries@sharktrust.org.

The Shark Trust attends many outreach events and exhibitions each year, if you would like come down and help out then you will be very welcome. Take a look at the upcoming events in the events section and contact the Trust of you would like to help out. If you are interested in hosting the Shark Trust at your event then please contact the office with your ideas.

The Shark Trust in January of 07 re-launched its old Volunteer Presenters course as the new and more encompassing Regional Secretaries. To date there are 13 fully trained RSs in place based from Bristol to Manchester and London to Brecon. The role of an RS is to give presentations, gain memberships and generally spread awareness of the work of the Trust.

Due to a fantastic response we now have over 30 more volunteers waiting to be trained, and we are therefore holding recruitment until funding can be secured to train those on the existing waiting list.
