In 2013, Jessica Baker founded Shelby Shelter after realizing that in NYC numerous dogs and cats get euthanized daily for minor issues such as inability to get adopted less than 24 hours, small cuts, less popular breeds, etc.
She used Shelby Shelter as a way to prevent these dogs and cats from getting euthanized, while also searching them permanent families for these animals. Years later, Shelby Shelter still lives on, though the main operations have been transferred to Los Angeles, California.
Currently, our main objective is to provide better living conditions for dogs who are being exported from China to Los Angeles. So far, we have had 20+ adoptions taken place this year alone.
There will be around 40 dogs arriving in LAX airport that were flown from China. We need people to export these dogs to their designated foster homes.
