The company's charter was to help advance English in Chile by recruiting qualified native-English speakers to teach English in Chile's schools, universities, and language institutes for one or two semesters. TeachingChile successfully brought 1100 teachers into the country.
Managing TeachingChile's operations from Santiago, Chile provided a number of advantages, both to the host schools and to the program participant:
- Frequent face-to-face communications with the schools and universities seeking native English speakers. This ensured that the host institutions' requirements lists were fully understood, offering the best match to the participant’s skills and interests. This also allowed TeachingChile to pre-screen the most worthwhile teaching opportunities for the participant.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of suitable and affordable accommodations for participants, including options for either renting a room with a host family or sharing an apartment with other TeachingChile participants.
- The TeachingChile staff greeted program participants at Santiago airport and transported them to their first night's accommodation, ensuring a warm welcome and hassle-free arrival into the country.
- In-country bi-lingual support network while the program participants were residing in Chile.
TeachingChile is no longer operating.
