Our mission

NIWA's mission is to conduct leading environmental science to enable the sustainable management of natural resources for New Zealand and the planet.

Careers

We have an exciting range of career opportunities at NIWA in both the scientific and professional support areas.

With our core business being science, the majority of our workforce are either scientists or technicians working across a range of specialist areas. However, our support staff are key to our ability to provide the high-quality science we're known for.

Science at NIWA is co-ordinated through our National Centres, each of which is led by a chief scientist. We also have a range of exciting career pathways with our professional Support Service.
